FILMMAKING BOOTCAMP & SHORT FILM PROJECT WHEN: Sunday July 9 - Thursday July 13, 2006 | 1:30pm - 7:30pm WHERE: Queen Rania Center (Jordan River Foundation), Jabal El Nasr DURATION: 5 DAYS for workshop + 2 DAYS more for students who wish to pursue short film project. FEE: Free. HOW TO APPLY: Open and fill the registration form and send it to JSFF2006@gmail.com REGESTRATION FORMS : HTML | PDF | DOC REQUIREMENTS: This bootcamp is for non-media professionals, and for those who have not produced a short film before. Half of the seats are set for students from special zones and professionals in the social services fields. Applicants from the Arab world are welcome. TABLE OF CONTENT SCRIPTWRITING: Seminar to explain basic theory of screenwriting such as creating compelling characters, plot, beat, sequence, scene structure, setup, confrontation, resolution, building suspense, themes, exposition, and more. Students will also learn proper formatting of a script; formulas for outlining plot points and beats. Other topics include basic film budgeting and scheduling techniques based on script breakdown; and more subjects related to screenwriting. Demo of screenwriting tools included. CINEMATOGRAPHY: Basic camera techniques and approaches will be discussed such as framing & compositional rules, cuts, camera angles, and scene filming methods such as triple-take, screen direction, action axis, matching shots, continuity, and other topics. SLIGHTING: Seminar to deal with basic multi-point lighting, color temperature, filters, reflectors, color correction gels, diffusion, various light sources and types, use of shadows, exposure, and more. AUDIO: Seminar will cover basic audio recording and enhancements techniques, to produce the best audio possible using readily available hardware and software tools. PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT: seminar will cover budgeting tools, location scouting, optimum scene breakdown, props management, crew roles and responsibilities, call sheet, daily production reports, shooting schedule, and so on. STUDENT FILM PROJECT: To help solidify the concepts learned during the bootcamp, selected students will produce short films after their successful completion of the bootcamp. The film ideas, less than 5 min each, will be developed jointly by instructor and students during the bootcamp with an eye on ease of production. Films produced in this bootcamp will be screened at the Jordan Short Film Festival 2006. This is not a film production grant for persons with existing film projects. CHILDREN ANIMATION WORKSHOP This workshop will be conducted with the Jordan River Foundation. More details will follow soon.
